We've been here for a bit now (since April 2009), and every day we get bombarded with emails (6 since April 2009 and one of those was a link to a virus and another was a very dirty email indeed which we deleted almost immediately) with reports from customers, friends and complete strangers all wanting to let us know what they're sprinkling their American Chip Spice onto.
Chip-spiced foods apparently include: spaghetti bolognese, sandwiches (both veg & meat fillings), cooking sauces, fried eggs, roast chicken, stir fries, toasted sandwiches, and the Greater Manchester Police Force when one 100g shaker was used as a missile during the silly looting riots that took place in August 2011.
We did receive an email informing us that Chip Spice had recently been sprinkled onto someone's sleeping Gran, but that can't be confirmed and could well be illegal/constitute some form of physical assault. Or someone could have just made it up. Obviously we at chipspice.com abhor any form of physical or psychological abuse, especially towards Grandmothers.
If you sprinkle your American Chip Spice onto anything strange, or anything that definitely isn't a chip, we'd love to hear from you.
We recently received this email from one of Norwich's local nutcases. thanks for that.
"Hello, I have been enjoying your chip spice for over a decade. I'm originally from the Hull area and love the stuff. For my sins i now live down in Norwich and still yearn for the spicy taste of home.
My base product of choice for your tasty topping is the grease fest that is the Doner Kebab pizza from the delectable Bella Pizza in Brigg, near scunthorpe.
My family still live in and around Hull and i am sure to pick up a new pot everytime I go up there.
If you ever decide to produce t-shirts proclaiming the delight of your orangy-red gold dust I will be the first in line to wear it with pride.
Thank you very much and keep up the good work.
Kind regards Ian Moore (27.) Norwich"
July 2010:
This came in anonymously from someone who didn't leave their name. All we can assume is that it's from a fan of a team who sometimes play Hull at the ice hockey.
"We discovered your chip spice at the ice hockey. I love it sprinkled on scrambed egg! It also makes a great flavouring for steak"
January 2011:
We received this message today from a confused and angry fashion designer. We're not sure if he was deadly serious or high as a kite. Or both:
"I was just wondering why you so incorrectly labelled this product. As you say yourselves, on this very website, chip spice originates from Yorkshire. So why ON EARTH you would ruin this by sticking 'American' on there is beyond me. One might even go so far as to say that this breaches the trades discriptions act of 1988. I'm not joking. I expect a decent excuse, and we can talk about this issue.
Yours sincerly, Mr. ***** ******, a confused and angry costumer."
